How do I Subscribe to a Feedback Type?

By default, subscription will be available for both administrative and tester teams. In order toggle Follow All for an entire Feedback Type, navigate to the Simple View of the feedback type you’d like to subscribe to and click on the envelope icon in the top right hand corner and select the Follow All option as desired.

From the options available:

  • Follow Moving Forward - automatically subscribe to any new Feedback submitted from now on
  • Follow Existing and Future - automatically subscribe to all new and preexisting Feedback of the chosen type

To unsubscribe from the Simple List, simply click the Follow All button again and select the Stop Following All option as desired:

From the options available:

  • Stop Following New - unsubscribe for any new Feedback submitted from now onward, but remain following anything previously followed
  • Stop Following All - Unfollow anything you were previously Following, and don't automatically follow any new Feedback (except when Auto-Follow rules apply)

“Wait! I don’t have the subscribe icon available on my Feedback Simple List!”

In that case...

Enabling the Subscription Feature for Feedback

Access to the Feedback subscription feature is tied to two sets of conditions in Feedback Roles and Feedback Collaboration Settings for each Feedback Type. As a user, the ability to subscribe to Feedback requires that your account meets one of these two conditions. As an admin, deciding which condition(s) are appropriate will depend on the level of visibility you wish your Teams to have:

  1. Access to all feedback
  2. Access to public feedback, provided feedback is public by default

Providing Access to All Feedback

Access to All Feedback is typically reserved for Project Manager and Internal Teams responsible for Feedback Triage and Management. In order to provide this access and enable the Subscription Feature for those Teams, from Project Tools:

  1. Click the Feedback Tool
  2. Modify the desired Feedback Type
  3. Click Feedback Roles
  4. Select the appropriate Team Type(s) from the drop-down menu
  5. Check on the Access All Feedback role for the team (or teams) of your choice
  6. Submit your Role settings

Providing Access to Public Feedback

Access to Public Feedback, and setting Feedback as Public by Default is typically appropriate for your Participants (Tester) team(s) in collaborative tests. To provide this access and enable the Subscription Feature for those Teams, from Project Tools:

  1. Click the Feedback Tool
  2. Modify the desired Feedback Type
  3. Click Feedback Roles
  4. Select the appropriate Team Type(s) from the drop-down menu
  5. Check on the Access Public Feedback role for the team (or teams) of your choice
  6. Submit your Role settings

Then, you’ll need to enable the Set All Feedback Public by Default setting:

  1. Click Feedback Collaboration Settings
  2. Scroll to the bottom and check on the Set All Feedback Public by Default option

Completing these steps will allow the selected team(s) to subscribe to all public feedback as well as allow collaboration across that feedback type. Any feedback subsequently marked as private will remain private.

Note

  • If your users are missing the Subscription / Auto-Follow button, a common cause is that the user's team is missing Follow access in the Homepage tool
